STAFF GUIDELINES - COVID-19

Cumberland Kayak is taking strong safety precautions to ensure staff and customer safety in regards to COVID-19. All staff must follow the below COVID-19 guidelines and procedures, as required by Cumberland Kayak, Metro Parks, and/or the CDC. 

A. Staff honesty

Staff should notify the manager if they begin to feel any symptoms that could be related to COVID-19 before or during their shift. Here are some questions to ask yourself.
-Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?
-Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat? 
-Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours? 
-Have you had any new loss of taste or smell?
-Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?

 Any staff member with a fever should not be permitted to work and asked to leave the premises immediately and seek medical care and/or COVID-19 testing, per CDC guidelines. Confidentiality of staff health information must be maintained.

B. Workplace and Staff Cleaning & Disinfection Practices

•All kayaks, paddles, & life vests must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized per CDC Guidelines after every use. Staff will be assigned to clean specific items during each trip.
If kayaks, paddles & life vest aren't cleaned in time for customer turnover, trips must be delayed until all items are thoroughly cleaned per CDC Guidelines. 
•Staff will be provided cleaning gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer. Staff are also able to use their own masks and gloves, although any PPE with symbols or statements must be approved by the manager.   
Masks should be worn when working with customers or staff in close proximity. 
•All staff members and customers must practice social distancing among customers and other staff members as much as possible. 
•Staff members agree to safely remove themselves from any potentially unsafe situations related to COVID-19 and notify their manager for next steps. 
•All staff must sign COVID-19 policy, and the policy will be posted for confirmation.
•CDC guidance to stop the spread of germs will be posted
•CDC guidance on COVID-19 symptoms will be posted.

C. Standard Operations: COVID-19 Policies

• All bookings will be completed online or over the phone. 
• Customers will be required to fill out and sign our updated safety waivers on their own mobile devices prior to kayaking or a sanitized iPad before and after each use.
• Customers will be responsible for bringing their own masks, gloves, water, food, sunscreen & hand sanitizer.
• Customers should be encouraged by staff to wear masks, especially during the check in process.
